History
The Institute of Information Sciences (IIS) is one of the pioneering institutes offering Information Science education in Bangladesh. Established at Noakhali Science and Technology University on July 15, 2015, the Institute commenced its academic activities in December 2016 with the introduction of the four-year Bachelor of Social Science in Information Science and Library Management (BSS-ISLM) program in the 2017–18 academic session. Since its inception, IIS has been playing a vital role in advancing the academic and research objectives of the University. The Institute currently offers BSS (Honors) and MSS programs in Information Science and Library Management, along with a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) and a Professional Master’s in Library and Information Science. These programs are designed to provide a strong foundation of theoretical knowledge integrated with practical and applied skills, enabling students to keep pace with global developments in the field. With its forward-looking curriculum, highly qualified faculty, modern teaching-learning methodologies, advanced laboratory facilities, and growing research opportunities, IIS has established itself as a leading destination for students from diverse academic backgrounds.
