Professor Dr. Muhammad Hanif (Murad) a distinguished member of the Department of Applied Mathematics and former Dean of the Faculty of Science at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), has been appointed as the Treasurer of NSTU. The appointment made by His Excellency Mr. Md. Sahabuddin, President of Bangladesh and Chancellor of the University, is for a four-year term under Section 13(1) of the Noakhali Science and Technology University Act, 2001. Dr. Murad will receive all benefits and privileges associated with the position, as per applicable regulations. The appointment was formalized through a notification issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education on December 17, 2024, following approval by the President. Dr. Muhammad Hanif (Murad) was born on April 10, 1974, into a respectable Muslim family in Noakhali, Bangladesh. He completed his early education, earning his S.S.C from Brother Andre’s High School and H.S.C from Noakhali Government College, securing First Division in both examinations. He obtained his B.Sc. (Honors) and M.Sc. degrees in Mathematics from the University of Chittagong, followed by an M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the Jamal Nazrul Islam Research Centre for Mathematical and Physical Sciences at the same university, under the guidance of the renowned cosmologist Professor J. N. Islam (1939–2013). In 2014, Dr. Murad completed postdoctoral research in Applied Mathematics under a University Grants Commission (UGC) scholarship. Earlier in his career, from 2000 to 2006, he served as a Lecturer and Assistant Professor in Mathematics at the International Islamic University Chittagong and Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology. In 2006, he joined NSTU, where he is currently a Professor of Applied Mathematics in the Department of Applied Mathematics. Dr. Murad has also taught various undergraduate and graduate courses in Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science at prominent universities in Bangladesh, including Independent University, Bangladesh; East West University; and the University of Liberal Arts, Bangladesh. Dr. Murad is an accomplished scholar, having authored a well-regarded book on game theory and published 35 research papers in national and international journals. He has presented his work at numerous conferences and symposia and remains actively engaged in advancing the field of Applied Mathematics. He is a life member of the Bangladesh Mathematical Society, and his current research interests include number theory, nonlinear programming, biomedical mathematics, neural networks, and industrial mathematics.
