MD. JAMSEDUL ISLAM
Biography of Md. Jamsedul Islam Md. Jamsedul Islam is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Business Studies and Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), Bangladesh, where he has served since January 2021. Based in Hatiya, Noakhali, Bangladesh, Islam is an accomplished academic and researcher specializing in sustainability accounting, corporate governance, and environmental reporting. He successfully served as Chairman of the Department of Law at NSTU from September 12, 2024 to August 10, 2025. Educational Background: Islam holds an MBA in Accounting & Information Systems from the University of Chittagong, where he graduated with first-class first honors (CGPA 3.75/4.00) as a gold medalist and recipient of the Dean's award and Bangladesh government scholarship. He also earned his BBA in the same field from the same institution with first-class second honors (CGPA 3.70/4.00) as a silver medalist. Academic Career: His academic journey began as an Adjunct Lecturer at Feni University (March 2019 - August 2020), followed by a Lecturer position at NSTU (January 2019 - December 2021) before advancing to his current role as Assistant Professor. For several periods, he also served in public sector banking in Bangladesh. He has extensive experience in teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses, including Advanced Accounting, Corporate Tax Planning, Business Ethics, and Financial Information Analysis. Administrative Leadership: In addition to his teaching and research responsibilities, Islam has taken on significant administrative roles at NSTU, including: - Assistant Provost (Malek Ukil Hall, NSTU) - Chairman of the Department of Law at NSTU (September 12, 2024 - August 10, 2025) - Course coordinator of different batches - Member of executive committee of Faculty of Business Studies - Member of Planning committee of Faculty of Business Studies - Member of Curriculum committee of THM, NSTU These roles demonstrate his versatility in academic administration across different disciplines. Research Excellence: Islam is a prolific researcher with a focus on **sustainable reporting and carbon management** and is currently seeking a PhD position in Business Administration and Management in this specialized area. His research interests encompass corporate carbon emissions, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) practices, and anti-corruption reporting. He has authored 12 published articles in reputable journals, including Q1-ranked publications in Sustainability and Energies. His work has garnered almost 400 citations with an h-index of 6 according to Google Scholar. Research Funding and Leadership: Islam has successfully secured multiple research grants totaling over BDT 10,00,000 from various funding bodies, including the Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh, and NSTU's Research Cell. He currently supervises numerous undergraduate projects and graduate theses and holds several leadership positions, including serving as Assistant Provost of Malek Ukil Hall and advisor to multiple student organizations. Islam's research contributions and academic leadership make him a prominent figure in sustainability accounting and corporate governance research in Bangladesh's academic landscape.
