Shahriar Md Arifur Rahman
Shahriar Md Arifur Rahman is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Science and Disaster Management at Noakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh, and a researcher affiliated with the University of Idaho, USA. BIOGRAPHY
Shahriar Md Arifur Rahman is an environmental scientist and educator whose work bridges environmental change, human behavior, and sustainable resource management. He serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Disaster Management at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), Bangladesh, and is a Graduate Research Associate with the Park, Tourism, and Outdoor Recreation Lab at the University of Idaho, USA. His research spans the human dimensions of air pollution, climate change, ecosystem carbon stock, and microplastic pollution, integrating geospatial analysis, risk perception modeling, and environmental policy. Shahriar has led and collaborated on projects funded by organizations such as the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EECEA). He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in internationally recognized journals such as Marine Pollution Bulletin, Journal of Travel Research, and Meteorology and Atmospheric Physics. A recipient of the Commonwealth Scholarship (UK) and multiple national research fellowships, Shahriar has also served as department chair, research administrator, and mentor to dozens of graduate and undergraduate students. His professional goal is to advance interdisciplinary solutions at the nexus of environmental science, human behavior, and sustainable development.
